Thanks to a generous donation and assistance from "FOHWH" we received several Perla beds recently and we love them! Or should we say; The dogs LOVE them!

The beds work out so well in the kennels that we would like to give each dog a bed. Please help us keep them comfortable during their stay at Half Way Home.

Something Half Way Home team did not expect when we took over the shelter, was the amount of homeless farm animals that are brought into our facility on a regular basis. From chickens, to ducks, goats, pigs... Heck we even had a horse once...

Those animals often have to stay with us for a while. Some only 5 days but many have to be with us for a few weeks before a good home is found. Our facility is not designed to house farm animals. However, with a little help, we could keep them comfortable.

We are looking for someone willing to donate their time and materiel to build a shelter big enough to house a large pig or goat. We have the enclosure for them, we just need a nice little shelter. Can you help?

We are in dire need of volunteer help at the shelter. Our biggest need at the moment; "Dog walkers". More than 90 dogs a day need to be walked. Volunteers give the dog a chance to get out of their cages, relieve themselves and receive attention, which helps the dogs' moral and prevents behavior problems while waiting for a home.

The Animal Health and Public Safety Division promotes the safety of residents from animals and animal-borne diseases, fosters the humane treatment of animals, encourages the adoption of pets, enforces animal and fowl ordinances, inspects facilities that deal with or sell animals, conducts educational programs, and picks up stray, sick and injured animals.

The FOHWH Program was developed to provide financial assistance for Half Way Home Pet Adoptions.
